Pat is well known for her work in crime prevention. A founding member of Safe City Mississauga, Pat served on the board for many years developing new crime prevention programs. She has been the most involved member of Council in the area of crime prevention and although she is no longer on the board, she continues to work with the organization as well as Peel Regional Police to improve safety in our community.
Pat was recognized in 2006 by Peel Regional Police with the Robert Boyne Award for her work in crime prevention. She was also recognized internationally in 2013 with the Crime Prevention Ambassador award from the International Society of Crime Prevention Practitioners.
She is knowledgeable about crime prevention programs and always continues to learn of new initiatives that may work in our community.
Residents know they can call on Pat to meet with them to find ways to make their neighbourhoods safer and she has held numerous small group and town hall meetings to address issues in the ward.
The recent increase in violent crime is very concerning. Pat made a formal request of the Regional Chair to host a meeting with the Police Chief as well as our MPs and MPPs to formulate a plan of action. Unfortunately this meeting was not held but Pat continues to support Chief Evans as she tackles the problem of violent crime, especially the increase in gun violence in Peel. She will not sit back and do nothing. She is speaking out for more support for our police service in an effort to protect the safety of our community and she will continue to do all she can.
