Pat is a founding member and has served on the city’s Accessibility Advisory Committee since 2001. During this time, she has worked tirelessly with the citizen members and staff to make Mississauga more accessible to everyone.
Through this work, all of our city facilities have become totally accessible as have all of our transit buses and stops. Pat is a strong spokesperson for accessibility and is always ready to support new initiatives that will open doors and remove barriers. She is passionate about this and has been interviewed on television channels about the committee and its work. Pat was also asked to speak at a Healthy Cities conference in London England where she highlighted the important work that has been done in Mississauga.
Pat ensured that the City’s new Human Resources policy removed all barriers for person with disabilities for employment in the city. Fair polices and hiring practices are critical to making this happen.
Pat also initiated improvements to the City grants program that provides assistance to person with disabilities for yard maintenance and snow clearing.
